Mangaluru, Apr 8: As a low-pressure area was created between north interior Karnataka and Kerala, many regions in coastal Karnataka received good rainfall along with strong wind and lightning on Tuesday evening. Wind and lightning also left a trail of destructions.

Beltangady, Guruvayanakere, Dharmasthala, Charmadi, Udupi, Manipal, Brahmavar, Karkala, Kundapur and other places got good rainfall. A few places in Bantwal taluk received light showers. In some places, the power supply went off after the rainfall began. The technical fault was noticed in the mainline that passes through Karkala and Hiriadka and the problem was sorted out in phases.

The meteorological department has predicted rainfall for two more days in various parts of the coast in the evening. It said that there will be some respite from the heat for a couple of days, after which maximum temperature, which stood at 36.9 degree Celsius yesterday, is likely to go up.

Citizens of Udupi town and surrounding areas were surprised by the intensity of lightning. In a few places, the mobile network stopped functioning due to lightning.
