Addicts if denied their daily quota of substance ( Alcohol/Drugs) will not hesitate to procure it irrespective of the contents... Industrial alcohol, which is Methanol, is cheap, easily available and highly toxic....resulting in paralysis, blindness and death... Ethanol is edible, in the form of wine, beer, whiskey n many other forms of alcoholic brands. The state earns, huge revenue due to high taxation, available in most states in our nation... Drugs are illegally produced, most come from carriers across our borders, highly addictive... its is easily transported n very difficult to apprehend.... many have died due to overdoses...When denied Alcohol or drugs, they undergo withdrawal symptoms, which are disastrous for every addicts... they tend to commit heinous crimes, suicide due to insanity !!!!!

In Mumbai whenever liquor has been banned, lots of tipplers have died or become blind by drinking hooch (country), which is prepared out of methyl alcohol and other toxic chemicals like battery cells! Incidentally, antidote for this poisoning is whisky!!

In Mangalore too many years ago, country booze used to be supplied in plastic pouches (thote) legally; many people had died of liver cirrhosis after consuming thote brew!! Now it's not to be seen!
