Bengaluru: Candlelight vigil - HDK slams PM, claims 'hidden agenda' is to mark BJP founding day

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Apr 5: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a call to the nation to express unity to fight coronavirus by lighting lamps or flashing torches for nine minutes at 9 pm on Sunday, April 5.

Taking to Twitter, Kumaraswamy said that the real motive behind the PM's call was to celebrate the founding of BJP. "Has the PM slyly asked the nation to observe a candle light vigil on the eve of foundation day of BJP? April 6 being its foundation day, what else can explain the choice of date & time for this event? I challenge the PM to offer a credible scientific and rational explanation," he said.

"The government is yet to provide PPEs for doctors and make test kits affordable for the common man. Without telling the nation what concrete steps are being taken to combat COVID-19 menace, the prime minister is giving meaningless tasks to an already exhausted population," he further said.

"It is shameful to convert the national crisis into an event of self aggrandizement & it is beyond shameful to push the hidden agenda of his party in the face of global calamity. May sense prevail upon the PM," he added.

He further tweeted in Kannada: "The people of the country are concerned about protecting themselves from the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Without giving any directions in that regard, what is the scientific and ideological reason in asking the people of the country to light diyas on April 5 itself? This has to be clarified. Is this celebration required at this hour of calamity in the country in the name of showing unity?

"The whole world is devastated due to the coronavirus pandemic. During these difficult time was it necessary to celebrate untimely Diwali by hiding the truth?"

The former CM also quoted from the popular Kannada poem 'Karunalu Ba Belake, Musukidi Mabbinali, Kai Hididu Nadesennanu'.

Speak about it and help the country to overcome the situation we are in. Don't give such irresponsible talks please.

Boss, FYI the 21 day lock down is 'renewable'. Its in 3 phases. There may be a lax of 4-5 in the day time to stock up essentials after the first phase and then another 21 days lock down would follow with another 4-5 days lax. The process would repeat again. So you can expect the completion only in June.
Mind you this is the WHO guideline and is goingto happen everywhere.

Every word of HDK indicates the level of frustration at being out of power. All those criticising PM of lack of vision, do they have any constructive suggestions to offer. Those who have no faith and do not want to light lamp tonight, don't do it. But expecting everyone to follow in your footsteps is ridiculous.

PM Modiji intentions are positive, he has the vision, to guide our motherland from these turbulent, violent evil times.... We believe that 1•3 billion Indians, will pass through this eye of the storm, victories !!! Let us all spread the light today at 9 PM !!!! Vande Mataram !!!!!

Who has claimed that lighting a candle, Diya or torches will drive away Corona Virus? Modi has never told about this in his televised address and request to the citizens of this country. It is your figment of imagination. PM has only talked about citizen's collective resolve and solidarity to defeat the virus. If you do not agree, don't do it. Nobody is forcing you or anybody for that matter. People who believe in Modi and his principles will surely do it without hesitation.

    Mr. Veer ,Nagpur ,

Don't bring in the constitution in everything we do? Has the constitution mentioned anything about how to pray and which god to pray or what , when and how to eat daily for your survival? You eat daily 3 or 4 times as per your convenience and requirements. Quoting constitution for everything and anything shows your ignorance and Childishness. Don't stoop to such a low level of argument. Better concentrate on other positive things which will do good to the country.

Thank God we didn't face situation like Italy. It is not because of PM. You may think that because he has introduced lockdown, we didn't face hard times like Italy, USA. It is just because by God's grace we were delayed to get corona effect.
You may have many ideas with you. But we got to think logically too. How long you will continue to stay at home? We have to move to the safer side bro. You don't bring politics and support Modi's action in this lighting candles? Use ur reasoning power and see what is the use of this?
Please don't follow your political leader blindly. You tell his action plan at this crucial time. Do you want to stay home continuously? What is the action plan by your Modi? Just coming and giving lecture and fooling people is it?

Our doctors and nurses do not have body protection kits. We have around 138 crores population and instead of spending three to 5 RS each on candles, why didn't he use the better idea?
Be logical bro. We could have contributed 5 RS each tonight everyone for our doctors right? 5 ×138 crores imagine how many protection kits we could have bought

The reason for series of tweets is that yesterday BSY strictly wrote to hi father that borders to kerala will never be opened until the covid 19 is reduced in kasragod. This person Kumaraswamy is only looking to play politics, whther its disease or death or any other times.... he only thinks about politics and people whoever are opposing them then they will start opposing . If Karnataka CM would have listened to Devegowda and agreed to open the mangalore bordr then Kumara would have tweeted today as lighting candle is a very good idea to come out of depression. What a non sense political party we have in Karnataka.

Its not time to bring Politics at current situation, we need to unite. At this difficulty time we all people of India expected from Prime Minister announcements proper economic stimulus packages.
Doctors, Nurses Support staff and rest of citizens are at war with the coronavirus here to support the country's efforts in every way. Its mess our migrants and the fact that we could have easily, along with the lockdown, announced a package that told all employers of migrant labour, all people in fact, "Don't sack anyone, feed them, pay them wages during the lockdown, we've got your back."

Mr. HDK. There is no hidden agenda . These 'agendas' and 'founding day' are required only for parties that have been rejected, routed and booted out by the people. The leaders of such parties resort to gimmics like yours to be in the news for survival. A vast majority of the Indians and Indians living abroad are with Indias PM. The stand of your party or the 'minorities' who support your party is very insignificant and limited to only online protests. In fact minorities too have shown the tilt. It was obvious in the recently concluded elections.

As per our Indian astrology which can be proved scientifically also tonight it is movement of sun to a brighter arena and our lighting lamps has its own significance....... Who wants to do it let them do it ..........I think if it done then there is no harm right?
