Bengaluru: Chief minister Yediyurappa issues work order to supply 1 lac PPE kits

Bengaluru, Apr 3: Work orders for supply of 1 lac Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) have been ordered by the state. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, who held a high-level review meeting on the measures taken by the state government for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in Karnataka, was informed that the work orders for the supply of PPE kits throughout the state have already been issued.

Yediyurappa directed officials to issue work orders for the supply of another 2 lac PPE kits. The deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwathnarayan, revenue minister R Ashok, education minister S Suresh Kumar, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, medical education minister Dr Sudhakar, health and family welfare minister B Sriramulu, chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar and other senior officials attended the meeting held in Vidhana Soudha on Friday. The meeting discussed the availability and quality of the PPE kits in the government hospitals to protect the lives of the doctors and other medical staff treating the COVID-19 cases.

The chief minister directed all the district in-charge officers to visit the respective districts and monitor the control and vigilance steps taken. The meeting decided to enlist the cooperation of the private taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber to provide transport facilities to the patients suffering from different ailments to visit the hospitals for necessary medical treatment.

The chief minister directed the Labour Department officials to deposit an additional Rs 1,000 to the bank accounts of 15 construction workers apart from the Rs 1,000 already deposited. The CM also held a meeting with the legislators of Bengaluru and was informed that the free distribution of food was not being done properly in the city. The meeting decided to streamline the system in consultation with the legislators and
officials. Meanwhile, the chief executive officer and retired IAS officer M R Srinivasamurthy and the president of the M S Ramaiah Group of Institutions met the chief minister in the morning and offered to provide 200 beds for treatment of the COVID-19 patients.

Revenue Minister R Ashok presented a cheque to Yediyurappa for Rs 12 lac of his salary for the entire year as his contribution for the Chief Minster’s Relief Fund.
