Bengaluru: 203 undertrials get bail amid fear of coronavirus infection

Bengaluru, Apr 2: Under the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court towards tackling the spread of coronavirus infection in prisons, the process of granting interim bail to undertrial prisoners who are facing criminal cases attracting less than seven years of imprisonment has begun.

On Wednesday, respective district courts sanctioned interim bail to 203 undertrial prisoners. Bagalkot with 72 bails and Mysuru with 70 led the pack. Member secretary of Karnataka Legal Services Authority G Basavaraju, informed that the process of granting interim bails in eligible cases will continue.
