Udupi CMC sprays disinfectant to contain coronavirus spread

Udupi, Mar 28: As a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) sprayed disinfectant sodium hypochlorite in various parts of the city on Saturday, March 28.

The staff from health department, fire station department and CMC field workers took up the sterilization drive in 35 wards in the city.

Udupi CMC commissioner Anand Kallolikar told media, “We have 35 wards in CMC and we have started this sterilization drive. Starting from CMC, City Bus stand, Sri Krishna Math etc. are being sterilized with the disinfectant. We shall be doing this continuously for 3 days. The CMC workers are working day and night to keep the city clean. All measures are undertaken to stop the spread of Coronavirus.”

“Coronavirus is spreading rapidly. CMC along with health department and fire fighters will be spraying the disinfectant in the city. There is no need to be scared about Coronavirus. Let us take all the precautionary measures to stop the spread of Covid-19,” said an official from the fire fighting department.

On the fourth day of lock down, citizens of Udupi were seen maintaining social distance in the markets and pharmacies.

In Katpady, people came out to purchase only necessary items in grocery shops using their own vehicles. Few vehicles were seen on the highway.
