Mangaluru, Mar 27: On Friday, March 27, two people tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dakshina Kannada district, and no cases were reported from Udupi.
According to the details shared by the Dakshina Kannada district administration, a 10-month-old baby from Sajipanadu was tested positive. The baby’s mother and grandmother are kept under quarantine in the hospital. Their fluid samples have been sent for test. Meanwhile, residents of Sajipanadu village are directed to strictly follow home quarantine.
In another case, a 21-year-old youth from Karaya village in Beltangady tested positive. The person had arrived from Dubai on March 21 to Bengaluru airport. From there, he reached to his hometown in KSRTC bus. He was suffering from fever and cough and was admitted to Puttur government hospital. His swab samples were taken for lab test on March 24 and as per reports on March 27, he was tested positive.
On March 27, 64 people were screened and as of date a total of 38,115 people are screened in the district. As of date, 3,032 are under home quarantine. There are no people currently under quarantine in Wenlcok Hospital. In ESI Hospital, 28 are under quarantine. As many as 20 people completed their 28 day mandatory home quarantine period. As many as 15 samples were sent for test. Results of six samples were received on Friday of which four emerged negative and two came out as positive. As many as six have been admitted to be kept under observation.
The Asha volunteers have visited 3,20,359 houses and awareness has been imparted to 13,17,439 people. The Wenlock Hospital is currently being prepared to tend exclusively to Covid-19 positive cases.
In Udupi district of the 124 samples that have been sent for test, only one case emerged positive on Thursday. No cases were reported on Friday. As many as 1429 patients are screened. As many as 99 people are under home quarantine, 30 in hospital quarantine and 8 in isolation ward. As many as 128 people completed their mandatory 28 day quarantine period. Around 57 people are under observation in the hospital.
As many as 14 people from Udupi, three from Kundapur and four from Karkala have been admitted to hospital on suspected case. Eleven suspects’ reports were received which were all negative.
In Karnataka, with seven new positive cases the state’s total touched 62. A 60-year-old from Tumakuru succumbed to the virus.
Kasargod
The escalation in coronavirus cases reported in Kasargod district has become a cause of worry. Of the 39 new cases reported in Kerala, 34 were from Kasaragod. In Kannur 2 cases were reported and one each in Kozikode, Trissur and Kellam.
