Mangalore, Nov 24: After a considerably long lull, a Konkani movie is now set for release in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district on November 27, 2009.
This much-talked movie, though was ready in September, had to wait for at least two months in order to get a better venue and time, before it could be released.
Dr Richard Castelino, director of the Konkani movie, ‘Kazar’, speaking to daijiworld, said, "We did not want to release the movie in a hurry, because of several factors connected with the release. In particular, we were waiting to get a good theatre, and lot of cricket matches in the past couple of months and other events, prevented us from going for an early release of the movie."
"As every one knows, for movies made in regional languages like Konkani, audience is always limited, and we cannot nurture high hopes of gate collection. But it is our humble request to all the Konkani-speaking people, to watch the movie", he said. He has also invited the non- Konkani speaking people to watch the movie, as he feels, movies do not have language barriers.
The lead actor of ‘Kazar’, Larry Fernandes, has been excited and expectant about the response his deubt movie, which also happens to be his home production, will get from the people. His father, Frank Fernandes, has produced the movie. Kodava beauty, Harshita Poonacha, is in the female lead with Larry. Most of the co-artistes are from Mangalore. Mithesh, Savia, Reena, Larina, Vipin and others form the star cast of the movie.
Lyrics have been composed by Wilfy Rebimbus and late Mickmax, tunes have been composed by Wilfy Rebimbus and Ragdev, and the film’s music has been directed by Vijay Bharathi. Playback singers, Rony Crasta, Radhika Menon and Hemanth have lent their voices for the film’s songs.
The movie has been shot at the picturesque Chomakudru Madikeri, Kings Cottage Madikeri, Mangalore airport, Goan beaches - especially Dona-Paula, Someshwar beach, Pilikula, Karawar etc.
On November 27, 2009, Kazar will be released simultaneously in Mangalore's Adlabs and Udupi's Alankar theatres. The premier show will be held in Mangalore at 10.00 am, and several guests from various fields are expected to watch the premier show.
National award-winning director, Dr Castelino, is confident that the story, music and indeed the acting in the movie, will be well accepted by the Konkani audiences.
