Mangaluru: St Maria Goretti Convent celebrates International Women's Day

Udupi, Mar 17: The Apostolic Carmel Institution of St Maria Goretti Convent, Kemmannu, celebrated International Women’s Day Celebration on March 10 from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm. A seminar cum workshop on self–employment for the parents of the student of the institutions and the locality was organised. Around 150 parents actively participated in the programme. The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by welcome dance, welcome speech and a wishing song. 



Veronica Carnelio addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative taken by the Institution to organize the seminar and also highlighted the women’s role in society.

Chandrika the deputy chairman of the Department of Women and Child Welfare, Suma, Shamala and Sumathi were the resource persons. They gave information on how to prepare the items such as - Phynyl, soap, liquid soap, pickle, jam, juice, and thread art. The participants appreciated the workshop as they were guided to make use of their time to do some useful things for themselves and sale. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks and meal to celebrate the Day.
