Mangaluru, Mar 5: The 140th annual day of St Aloysius College 'Samvedana - Reaching the Unreached', was celebrated here at the college grounds on Thursday, March 5.

Addressing the gathering, retired professor of English, theatre and television artiste Prof Laxmi Chandrashekar said, “I am very pleased with the college which has a vast history. Its profile speaks up the volume. Women are still the underprivileged and exploited. They are not safe while travelling. Women work more while compared to men. When a woman becomes a bread winner and earns more, men feel insulted. In many cases, male officers resign as they do not like to work under women officers.

Women have been deprived of education. Women work more at home than men who work outside. As much as 80% of work has been done by women, but it is not considered as productive, as they do not earn salary.”

“St Aloysius College conducts lot of activities which generates oneness, and increases social concern,” said Laxmi Chandrashekar.

Convenor Dr Saraswathi welcomed the gathering, president of student council Lloyd Sequeira rendered the vote of thanks.

Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Dionysius Vaz, principal of St Aloysius college Fr Dr Praveen Martis , finance officer Vincent Pinto , registrar Dr Allwyn D’Sa and co-convenor Dr Donnet D’Souza was also present.

Congratulations St. Aloysius College on Completing 140 years. Being an Aloysian it is such a joy to see the college reach greater heights. Believing for more accolades and victories. It makes me feel nostalgic and takes me back to my college days when I used to be in the choir every year . It is so wonderful to see the younger generation participate with such fervor and enthusiasm. I watched the whole program , lovely presentation. Stay Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored and Deeply Loved.

The whole program was very nice, meaningful and mind-blowing. We all enjoyed it from the beginning till the end. The presentation of the Annual Report is just wonderful. The Principal is simple and down to earth person even though he is highly educated.
