Mangaluru, Feb 25: A middle aged man allegedly raped a specially-abled minor girl repeatedly in the guise of escorting her to school. The incident has taken place at Ullal here. People caught hold of the man and handed him over to police on Tuesday, February 25.

The arrested accused is Thomas Correa (60). He had made the family of the girl believe that he will drop the girl to the school in his scooter. But he took the girl to rubber plantations nearby and repeatedly raped her.

Thomas is running a mobile canteen business in a tempo at Pandith House junction in the evenings. He knew the family of the girl. Locals had expressed suspicion as he used to take the girl in a different route in his scooter. Therefore, they followed him while he was escorting the girl. They saw him taking the girl to rubber plantations. When he was just about to commit the crime, people caught and handed him over to Ullal police station.

The incident of rape has come to light when the girl was subjected to medical tests. Ullal police station personnel registered a case under section 376 relating to rape and POCSO act and 506 relating to threats to kill.
