US President Trump, PM Modi sign defence USD 3 billion defence deal

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 25: US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a joint statement that the two countries have finalised defence deals worth USD 3 billion.

In his speech PM Modi said, “The two countries have decided to take the ties to comprehensive global partnership level. The defence cooperation between two countries is reflective of the rising strategic partnership between India and the US.”

The deals that were sealed on Tuesday include procurement of 24 MH-60 Romeo helicopters by India from the US at a cost of $2.6 billion and another contract to acquire six AH-64E Apache helicopters for $800 million from the US.

“US is looking forward to providing India with some of the best and most feared military equipment on the planet. We make the greatest weapons ever made: planes, missiles, rockets, ships. We make the best. And we're dealing now with India. But this includes advanced air defence systems and armed and unarmed aerial vehicles," Trump had said on Monday.

On Tuesday, Trump asserted that US focuses on having a comprehensive trade deal with India. Stating the countries have made a "wonderful deal", he said, "Our teams have made tremendous progress for a comprehensive trade agreement and I am optimistic we can reach a deal of great importance to both countries.”

It is surprising Modi "Wasted millions of dollars" on this useless visit of Trump to India.

Did Trump visit India at our own expense to sign up the sale of his useless underwear to India?
Even if this deal is a logical one, it could be done easily without the presence of Trump on our soil in the first place.
India got no technology transfer, manufacturing business out of this useless deal.
Trump even refused to acknowledge many demands put forward by india, but repeated his support to Pakistan from Indian soil, and on the face of Modi.

In Rafale Jet deal PM Modi's government paid thrice the price of the original order under UPA II. So far only three aircraft is received even after 'Limboo-Pani' ceremony.

At the same time Gulf country of Qatar received the first fleet and sent Pakistani pilot serving in its force for training now getting more experience and mission secret even before Indian air force pilot are getting trained.

With this USD 3 billion defence deal US President Trump seems to be confirmed.

These evil forces will never succeed, they have been given a very long rope, to spread anarchy and death on our streets... The nation must crackdown on these mercenaries.....and bring back order, peace, at the earliest !!!

All this signing is not a big deal....money and goods are not exchanged when u sign on deal.... It's only a MoU to boost publicity for Trump's election in Nov. and for Modi to score some brownie points with his bhakaths that they inked a deal...things can change at any time with all these deals

Trump came to India just once, and signed a defence deal for USD 3 Billion.

Modi went to the US so many times. How many products did Modi sell ? And to all those countries he visited during his rule ?

Or, is he confused between export and import ?

This is just a Hog Wash to fool people. This is no investment trade deal. This is India is buying from US some outdated near junk technology which gives US the advantage of clearing it's garbage for profit. How many of US business leaders and CEOs accompanied Trump to sign trade deals and how many of Indian counterparts met them to seal the deal????... NONE. At least Trump is doing something good to its people but Modi is making its people more poorer and forcing people to pay taxes without income and jobs.

I agree with you on all counts except

    a) Taxes- Most do not pay taxes and India looses Millions . Every person should have a number and that should be used to work, open bank accounts , own/linked to buying anything. That way nobody can escape paying taxes.
They go around the world drinking champagne, limo rides and careless spending, and when they come home, they CRIB to pay taxes.

This has to stop and that is the only good thing emerging from this Government !

When the people are confident about the government that it is using the tax money honestly, then they will pay the tax happily. Like in Delhi where the tax collection has increased even without tax terrorism by the authorities.

Most Indians don't pay taxes but why taxes are paid to the govt for development and services etc. So, what development, services and job opportunities are created by the govt????. Unemployment is 45 years low, GDP is 4%. These numbers itself are proof that there are no business and infra structure activities in India. Moreover not all Indians go abroad for vacation but those who go need foreign exchange which in India can not get legally from third party they have to go to govt registered agencies like banks. So, when they exchange thier domestic currency to foreign one copy of the receipt goes to govt revenue dept. So, govt has all evidence to see whether tax has been paid on that money against a particular PAN and thereafter for related details investigation if govt wishes. But for govt blind Bhakths no law applies. Only clean chit.

In Balmata, Mangalore if you are a home owner you pay property tax which includes garbage collection, maintaining streets and street lights, parks, libraries, fire service and public service amenities etc. How much of these quality services you are getting after paying your hard earned money as taxes. Now MCC says manage your own garbage and if you don't you are fined, so are your tax rupees working for you or against you????...So for a country to develop govt should create job opportunities and collect taxes and put that money to use but not pocket that money and leave country.
