Shah failed to maintain law & order in Delhi: Congress


New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS): The Congress has alleged that the BJP leaders are giving hate speeches in Delhi and the Delhi police are taking no action due to which there is a complete breakdown of law and order.

The statement was given after violence broke out in north east Delhi between pro and anti-CAA protesters in which one Delhi Police head constable lost his life.

The Congress said, "Delhi Police, under Home Ministry, has completely failed to control law and order. BJP leaders have been openly giving hate speeches and threats but no action is being taken."

The Congress alleged that the speeches made by its leader Kapil Mishra are in complicity with the senior leaders. "Such comments can only be made with complicity of senior party leaders and the police." tweeted INC, the official Twitter handle of the the Congress.

Tension prevailed in north east area of Delhi after a head constable was killed as pro and anti-CAA groups battled each other.

A bullet fired by unruly protesters injured a youth, while several vehicles and a house in the vicinity were also set ablaze.

The head constable who lost his life has been identified as Ratan Lal.

Delhi Metro, meanwhile, has announced the closure of entrance and exit gates of Maujpur-Babarpur metro station.

Protests and rallies by anti and pro-CAA groups rocked the area on Sunday also, with pro-CAA groups rallying at Maujpur-Babarpur metro station, and Maujpur chowk while the anti-CAA protesters held forth in Kabir Nagar and Jaffarabad areas.
