After Trump's trip, Tata calls Motera 'global landmark'

Mumbai, Feb 24 (IANS): As US President Donald Trump and his family visited the world's largest cricket stadium in Motera, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, Tata Steel has described the venue of 'Namaste Trump' as one of its 'global landmarks', here on Monday.

Speaking on its association with the SVP Stadium, Tata Steel Vice-President, (Steel Marketing & Sales) Peeyush Gupta said that the company has supplied 11,000 tonnes - or 75 per cent of the total 15,000 tonnes - steel rebars that make up the huge stadium.

Of 11,000 tonnes, Tata Steel supplied 8,400 tonnes in cut-and-bend form or Tiscon Readybuild, plus another 41,000 pieces of couplers and 84,000 threads, for the Motera stadium which has a seating capacity of 100,000.

"Tiscon Readybuild is a construction solution wherein an off-site rebar processing is done at a specialized service centre enabling supplies of rebars in customized shapes/sizes, thus reducing waste of steel at the site and expediting delivery of projects, said Gupta.

He added that besides the SVP Stadium, Tata Steel has supplied its construction solutions to monuments like Statue of Unity, the longest rail-cum-rail bridge of Assam, the Bogibeel Bridge, the upcoming longest river bridge on River Ganga at Patna, the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, the Signature Bridge in New Delhi, the under-construction Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and the Metro Rail projects in Mumbai and Kolkata.
