Udupi: MIC’s three-day annual media event ‘Article-19’ from Feb 20

Udupi, Feb 19: Article-19, the official, annual media event of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), will be held on February 20, 21 and 22. It celebrates the article of the Indian Constitution which grants its citizens the freedom of speech and expression. Over the years, the event has grown in scale and quality, with eminent personalities including Prahalad Kakkar, Rahul Bose, Vinod K Jose and Anand Ranganathan hosting sessions with the students.

This year's theme is 'The Roaring 20s' and the speaker line-up showcases a powerhouse of media professionals such as Harshveer Jain, an IIT and IIM graduate who educates and entertains people through art on social media, Devanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh, award winning writer and director duo, Karthik Srinivasan, communications expert who builds and manages brand perceptions in client environments, Disha Oberoi, alumna and Radio Jockey for Red FM 93.5, Bengaluru, and Shweta Kothari, a journalist and news presenter, thereby encompassing different fields of media.

"Article 19 is a platform for students of MIC to learn about the newer developments in the media and entertainment sector as well as develop and showcase their creative and technical skills. It also provides them with an opportunity to interact with some of the prominent personalities of the media sector,” says Dr Padma Rani, director of Manipal Institute of Communication.

Lauded for being one-of-a-kind competitions with unconventional rules that bring out individual creativity and improvisation, this year's events include a vast selection of games that tap into the dynamic fields of advertising, public relations, film-making, graphic design and radio.

Talking about the background of the event, Shruthi Shetty, faculty coordinator added, "Article-19 is one of the oldest media events and a student-run fest which focuses on quality, credibility and substance with an equal mix of entertainment making it a complete package that engages with all categories of the youth participants."
