Panaji, Feb 15: Crime branch sleuths arrested Savio Alfie Lobo (35), resident of Candolim on Friday on charges of his involvement in an attempt to extort money from minister of PWD Deepak Pauskar. It is alleged that a call was made to Pauskar from his SIM card. The suspect is the sixth person arrested in this connection.

Three Maharashtra based suspects were arrested on January 22. Two other suspects from Gujarat were arrested a few days later. The minister had allegedly received 30 calls from Dubai and Gujarat from unknown people threatening that he will be killed if he does not pay a ransom of Rs three crore.

The minister called them to his residence to take the ransom where a trap was laid and three of them were arrested on January 22.
