Nepal teenager becomes youngest to score ODI 50

Kathmandu, Feb 9 (IANS): Nepal teenager Kushal Malla on Saturday broke the record for youngest player to score a fifty in men's ODIs. Malla, who is 15 years and 340 days old, did so in Nepal's ODI against the USA as part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 in Kirtipur near here.

Malla came into bat with his team struggling at 49/5. He stitched a sixth-wicket stand of 84 runs with Binod Bhandari in just 14.3 overs to turn things around for his team.

He broke the record held by his compatriot Rohit Kumar Paudel, who was only 16 years and 146 days old when he scored 55 in an ODI against the UAE last year.

Malla was dismissed for 50 off 51 balls, but his innings proved to be a valuable one as Nepal went on to win the match.
