Udupi: Lady ASI assaulted at women's police station, case registered

Udupi, Feb 4: A woman who came to Udupi police station hurled expletives at a lady assistant sub-inspector (ASI), assaulted her and obstructed her from performing her duties.

The incident took place at Udupi police station on Monday, February 3.

ASI Muktabai is serving at women’s police station Udupi as lady ASI since the last four years. She had returned after four days of leave.

A Kodankooru based woman known as Usha Naik came to the police station at about 11.30 am on Monday. She hurled expletives at Muktabai. When Muktabai enquired the reason for the woman’s actiuons, Usha pushed and slapped her. The scuffle was taking an aggressive turn before others in the police station pitched in and prevented the same. Usha created commotion in front of other visitors saying that she will teach a lesson to Muktabai and prevented the ASI from discharging her duties.

A case was registered at Udupi town police station.
