Bengaluru, Jan 28: Even as he is bogged down by delays in getting the green signal from the BJP high command for expanding his cabinet and accommodating the erstwhile JD(S)-Congress MLAs, who defected to BJP and got elected on the party tickets, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa warned the officials demanding bribes for distributing the ownership rights or hakku patras for the sites regularized by the government under the `Akrama-Sakrama’ scheme that the government will not hesitate to take stern action.
He was addressing a function organized by the State’s Revenue Department for distributing the hakku patras to 10,000 beneficiaries in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
“The State Government is coming to your doorsteps for regularizing the sites under the Akrama Sakrama scheme. If any information is provided regarding the officials demanding bribes, such officials will be placed under suspension immediately and disciplinary action will be initiated,’’ he declared.
Yediyurappa lauded the Revenue Department for its functioning for the welfare of the people.
Regularisation of the sites of the persons belonging to economically weaker backward class sections of people who had built houses on government lands under Sections 94(C) and 94 (CC) of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act of 1964 was an ambitious and pro-people programme of the government, he said and pointed out that it was very beneficial to the poorer sections of society.
The Chief Minister said he was happy that as many as 9,000 beneficiaries in the Bengaluru Urban district and another 1,000 people in the Bengaluru Rural district have been granted the hakku patras under the Akrama Sakrama scheme.
Under the regularization scheme, houses built on a maximum of 4,000 sq ft of land in the rural areas, excluding Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits, and up to 600 sq ft in the city areas of BBMP and upto 1,200 sq ft outside the city and till 18 kms in the BBMP limits under Section 94 (C) of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act.
Asserting that the government was committed to the overall development of Bengaluru, Yediyurappa said the government was taking all necessary steps to change the face of Bengaluru in the next six months.
Panel headed Bopaiah to check encroachments
The Revenue Department is taking stringent action against all those encroaching on the revenue lands belonging to the government and announced that a high-level committee headed by former Speaker of the State Assembly K G Bopaiah to suggest measures to be taken.
Revenue Minister R Ashok, Housing Minister V Somanna, P C Mohan, MP, and Uday Garudachar and S R Vishwanath, MLAs, participated in the programme.
The Chief Minister also attended a programme organized by the Times Group and the Vijaya Karnataka Kannada newspaper to honour the farmers who had excelled under the banner ‘Vika Super Star Raitha 2019’.
Vijaya Karnataka Editor Hariprakash Konemane, CEO Ranjit Kate, UAS Vice Chancellor Dr Rajendra Prasad and Director of State Agriculture Department B Y Srinivas were present on the occasion.
Yediyurappa later inaugurated the new building of Sri Jachani Adhyayana Peetha and Research Institute of the Nidumamidi Math in Basavanagudi.
Nidumamamidi Math Pontiff Sri Veerabhadra Channamalla Deshikendra Swamji, Revenue Minister R Ashok and Housing Minister V Somanna participated in the function.
