Udupi, Jan 28: Students Islamic Organization of India, in the district held protests in front of the office of the deputy commissioner at Manipal opposing Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.
The protests were held under the head ‘Art for Resistance’.
The protests began after a speech by SIO national president Nihal Kidiyoor. Students created awareness among the people opposing the Act by means of poetry, songs, gazals, slogans, skits and mono-acting. Students of Manipal Mahe and progressive thinkers took part in the programme. SIO district president Nasir Hoode compered the programme and rendered the vote of thanks.
