Kundapur: 'Nirvana 2020' two-day, environment-friendly, beach festival inaugurated

Kundapur, Jan 27: The two-day, environment-friendly beach festival 'Nirvana 2020', under the Clean Kundapur project, was inaugurated at Kodi beach on the evening of January 25.

This event is organized on the completion of 50th week of Clean Kundapur project under the leadership of FSL India, Geetananda Foundation Manur, Mata Amritanandamayi foundation and Sadhan Kalasangama Kundapur.

The programme was inaugurated by Kundapur sub-division officer K Raju and ASP Hariram Shankar. Speaking on the occasion, AC Raju Mogaveera said, "Government has taken several measures to create a plastic-free environment. Throwing of plastic on the banks of rivers and beaches of the sea has a detrimental effect on the sea-borne creatures. The work done by organization for this noble cause under Clean Kundapur is very much appreciated."



ASP Hariram Shankar said, "Police department is seriously thinking on the subject of development of beach and cleanliness. We will discuss with the MLA and install lights and CCTV."

Selfie Point made from old used sandals, art from bottles, sand art and life of fishermen displayed the cultural part of the event. Mouth-watering biriyani, fried fish, variety of foods and German churumuri were also available to satiate the hunger of the visitors.

Kundapur unit president of Red Cross Jayakar Shetty, Anantha Hariram, member of Kundapur Railway Passengers' welfare committee Vivek Kamath, Ganesh Puthran, Gopadi gram panchayat president Saraswati G Puthran, member of organizing committee of Clean Kundapur beach festival Dr Rashmi, Kalpana Bhaskar, Bharath Bangera, Anudeep Hegde and Shakuntala were present.
