Panaji: Minister Michael Lobo hints at alarming condition of garbage

Panaji, Jan 24: Michael Lobo, minister of waste management expressed concern that new garbage dumps are developing in villages near Margao making the situation in villages of south Goa worse.

Speaking at the inauguration of Saras 2020 in the presence of chief minister Pramod Sawant, he said that he saw dumps in Rumdamol, Davorlim and Navelim which need to be cleared without delay.

He said that one lac sq meter land is acquired for the upcoming garbage treatment plant at Verna industrial estate. Besides generating electricity, the plant will be capable of treating 250 tonne of waste per day.
