Kadaba, Jan 24: The roof of the dilapidated building of the government higher primary school at Sabalur in Koila village in the taluk suddenly crashed on the evening of Thursday January 23. Tiles too fell down when classes were going on. The children and teachers however escaped without injuries.

One of the buildings of the school is in a very bad shape. Its wall has cracked and roof is about to fall. Although the concerned had taken up the issue, nothing has been done to repair the school. On Thursday, roof of one portion of this building came crashing down. Eighth standard class was on then. As the tiles started to tumble, the teachers and children ran out and escaped unhurt. The class was thereafter shifted to another room.

The teachers’ room adjacent to the room where the roof crashed too is facing danger. It can come down anytime. The already crashed roof can hasten the fall, said school development and monitoring committee president Shekhar Gowda Koila. He has asked the concerned to immediately take steps to ensure safety of students and teachers.
