Karkala, Jan 24: Several cases have been registered in Hebri and Hiriadka police stations, alleging that Omega 3-6 company from Nanjangud has cheated farmers living in and around Hebri and Perdoor to the extent of about Rs 19 lac.

Enticed by the advertisements released by the said company, people had visited the office of the company at Nanjangud. The company officials told them that they would supply hens to the farmers. Every hen lays eggs for about 18 months. These eggs would be purchased by the company. After 18 months, the hens would be replaced, the company official had said. They also had said that they will pay Rs 1,000 per hen, Rs 25,000 to acquire cage needed to keep the hens and guarantee to replace hens for ten years.
