Chikkamagaluru, Jan 23: In an incident that took place at Hirebail of Kalasa taluk of the district, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district slapped Revenue Inspector in full public view for not distributing the compensation to deluge victims.

DC of the district Bagadi Gautam is the one who pulled the collar of revenue inspector Ajje Gowda and slapped him in front of public.

When the DC visited Hirebail to enquire about the flood victims of last year's deluge, they complained to the DC that they have not yet got the money for the ration they bought from the shop, though eight months are over.

DC Bagadi Gautam asked explanation for the complaint raised by the flood-affected victims, with Revenue Inspector Ajje Gowda and said, "Why the bill of the flood victims in not paid to the ration shop, though the grants have arrived from the government?" Revenue inspector Ajje Gowda could not give a proper reply, which got the DC irate and he slapped him in the presence of the public.

It is quite possible that the revenue officer pocketed the grants which would have made anyone mad.

I don't blame the DC. The blood of any sane person will boil after a visit to any government office in Karnataka. 99.9% of the government servants are crooked and corrupt. Corruption is their religion and they think that demanding and collecting bribes is their fundamental right.
