M'luru: Health exhibition, literary, creativity fest to be held at FMHMC Derelakatte on Jan 23, 24

Mangaluru, Jan 21: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Deralakatte, a pioneer institute in the field of Homoeopathic Medical Education and Research on January 23 and 24 is organizing a mega health exhibition along with an intercollegiate Literary and Creativity Fest, ‘Prerana 2020’.

Prerana, a unique innovative fest began in 2009. The main aim of this programme is to provide a platform for students of various pre-university colleges and high schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts to exhibit their talents. Since its inception, it has been conducted successfully every year with a large number of participants.

In the previous years, the competitions were based mainly on cultural activities like folk and thematic dance, eastern and western singing, face painting, soap carving and wealth out of waste along with literary competitions.

This year, the college is stepping into the 11th year of hosting Prerana, a mega medical and health exhibition is being planned along with the literary competitions comprising of quiz and essay writing for high school and PU colleges separately.

The unique innovative specialty of Prerana 2020 is a medical model making competition for the students.

During the event, an effort will be made to create awareness about common medical conditions along with their prevention, nutrition and diet plans to maintain good health. Screening tests will be done to get aquainted with health aspects and games regarding health will be conducted.

Attractive cash prizes will be given to the winners.

Around 2000 students from various schools, colleges, medical and technical institutions are participating in this spectacular event.

This unique programme will be inaugurated on January 23 at 9.30 am at the college auditorium.

Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director FMCI will preside over the inaugural programme. U T Khader, MLA, Mangaluru constituency will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the programme. Dr Mohammed Iqbal, district Ayush officer, Dakshina Kannada, Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, principal, St Agnes College, Mangaluru, Sheena Shetty, district sanitation ambassador, Dakshina Kannada will be the guests of honour.

Fr Roshan Crasta, administrator FMHMC&H, Dr Shivaprasad K, principal FMHMC, Dr Girish Navada, deputy medical superintendent FMHMCH, Dr Deepa Pais, convener- Prerana 2020, Dr G Rajachandra, co-convener - Prerana 2020 and Dr Ranjan Britto, coordinator, media committee were present at the press meet.
