Byndoor: Cricketer Sreesanth to open world class sports academy

Byndoor, Jan 14: Indian cricket team’s fast bowler, member of India’s world cup winning team S Sreesanth has said that he will open a world class sports academy at Halkal, near Kolloor. He made the announcement in the press conference held in Rupi mall here on Tuesday, January 14.

“The Sreesanth Sports academy that is coming up on 16 acres land has the intention of identifying talented sportspersons in Cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton and athletics and encouraging them. It will thereby mould national and international sportspersons.

The work on the project is in progress. The academy will begin its functions from November 1 if everything else progresses as planned. Effective training with accommodation will be provided in the academy. The training includes one to one and tournament. National and international sportspersons have already been contacted and they have already consented to participate in academy activities.

Camps of 3, 6, 9 and 36 days during vacations will be started in the beginning. Fitness and diet will be given importance as per the suggestions of experts. Fitness, yoga, meditation, ayurveda, Indian culture, values and living customs will be put into practice,” he said.

“It is intended to hold various sports competitions and present large amount as prizes. The corporate office of the academy will be in Rupi mall. Entrepreneur K Venkatesh Kini has taken up several projects in this connection and RSS venture’s Rajiv Kumar will be with me in the academy,” he said, “The training will not be free but poor and eligible people will be provided free training,” he said.

Partners K Venkatesh Kini, Rajiv Kumar and Saju Kadavila were present.

Sreesanth said that he chose the spot for natural beauty and clean environment.
