Bengaluru: 106 per cent job opportunities in state - DCM Ashwath Narayan

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jan 11: "In the organized sector in the state of Karnataka, job opportunity level is at 106%. If the number of graduates is 5.50 lac, there are 5.75 lac jobs available. If this is the situation of organized sector, how many more job opportunities will be there in the unorganized sector? In our state the supply of labour is less than demand," said deputy chief minister (DCM) and minister for higher education Ashwath Narayan.

DCM Narayan further said, "There is a communication gap to know the job opportunities while studying itself, rather than searching for it after completing the education. This creates panic among the students and dampens their self-confidence. Stress is being given to overcome this issue. Priority will be given to arranging contacts with companies to provide assurance of job for the students during their studies itself.

"Laptops will be distributed to 1,09,060 first year graduate study students of government first grade colleges across the state on January 12 in the Vivekananda Jayanti programme, which will be held at Kanteerava indoor stadium in the city. Rs 300 crore is reserved for this. Laptops of HP and ACER company make will be given to students. Only symbolic distribution will be done during the programme and rest will be distributed in phases.

"Students are facing difficulties due to communication issue to get proper education and job. So a clear cut picture about this needs to be given to children during the primary education itself. Counselling will be given to students of eighth standard with regards to the job and relevant courses that are available. We are also mulling of giving suitable guidance through examination system so that the high school students can have a specific aim and work in that direction."

The Modi government’s relationship with economic data started on a low in 2019.

The National Sample Survey Office conducted its latest periodic labour force survey between July 2017 and June 2018 – a period considered crucial because it would reveal just what impact demonetisation had on India’s working population. Two members of the National Statistical Commission resigned when the Centre refused to make this data public, and yet the government didn’t blink.

In January 2019, Business Standard published a series of articles leaking the survey’s results. Unemployment was at a 45-year high, the NSSO had found, and youth unemployment was substantially higher than in previous years.
The Centre finally released that data only in May 2019 – after the general elections were over and the Narendra Modi government had been re-elected. Even then, the government sought to play down the survey’s results by saying that the numbers were not strictly comparable, as the survey’s methodology had changed.
Even after the numbers were released, nobody in the government has addressed the issue or said what it intends to do about this rising number.
This Deputy Chief Minister don't were he gets his official data even PM Modi's center government doesn't even have it.
