Beltangady, Jan 8: Harshalata, president of Machchina gram panchayat (GP) in the taluk, has filed a complaint in Punjalkatte police station about a few persons from the gram panchayat limits having obstructed her and other government servants from collecting data under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The data collected by them was also destroyed by the offenders, she stated.

Harshalata along with Janaki, Roopa and Pavitra, who have been appointed on contract basis by the zilla panchayat to collect information under NRLM scheme, was busy collecting information at Kallugudde within Machchina gram panchayat at around 12.15 pm on Tuesday, January 7. On that occasion, Irfan from Kallagudde House in Machchina village, Abdul Rashid, Rafiq Bangerakatte, Nazeer, Razak, Badruddin, Junaid, Hameed, Nawaz and some others reportedly stopped Harshalata and other staff.

They not only obstructed them from collecting statistics about NRLM scheme, but also destroyed the details already collected by them. Harshalata said in her complaint that abusive words were used against herself and her team and death threat was posed to them.

On the basis of complaint, Punjaklatte police have registered case under sections 341, 504, 506, 353 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
