Mangaluru, Dec 31: The city welcomed in the New Year with much joy. Partygoers gathered in large numbers in pubs, hotels and resorts where parties and special events for the big night were held.

The city erupted in joyous celebrations welcoming the New Year with much spirit and gusto.

The police department had issued strict warning against going overboard with the parties. Tight security was deployed to ensure that everything went on smoothly.

Plenty of New Year parties across the city were organised where revellers, chiefly made of youngsters, enjoyed the music and entertainment and danced away to glory.

Earlier in the evening, New Year celebrations began on a solemn note with Eucharistic celebrations at all churches in city.

Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha celebrated the Mass Bishop House.

Daijiworld wishes all its readers a happy, prosperous and fabulous New Year!
