For the sake of argument let us accept NRC is right step, but is it priority? Already spent 1660 crore for carrying out NRC in assam (3.5 crore population) and detention centers costing 42 crore each to accomodate 3000 people. From where government will bring funds to conduct NRC throughout the country. Current financial crises, decline in GDP, high unemployement rate, hunger index should be the priority, but unfortunately the government is keen in implementing their agenda.
When things are not moving in right direction, government want to spend money on foreigners.
