Mangaluru, Dec 14: National general secretary of AITUC Amarjeet Kaur on December 14 hit out at the central government, alleging that "it is working for Ambani and Adani and not for the people of the country".

She was speaking after inaugurating the 19th conference of Karnataka Bank officers' organisation here at PVS Kala Kunj here.

"Today, sector after the sector is being privatized and foreignized because of government policies. After demonetisation several micro industries have shut down, livelihoods have been lost and the economy is in a terrible shape," Kaur said.

"Even the codification brought in is a threat to our existing rights. Public airports are being handed over to Adani company. The government is preparing to privatize several government businesses including BPCL. It has merged BSNL and MTNL. Due to the economic crisis, banks are under threat. The merger of banks will put a strain on their functioning in the future," she added.

"Major issues such as unemployment in the economy are not being addressed, our country is not progressing but regressing, communal poison is being spread," Amarjeeth Kaur said.

"We want to raise questions to the government about the policies, mergers and many more. We have the right to ask those questions as we are not crossing our boundaries. We are bound by duty, we do not look at our interests. We have several questions to ask to the present regime, we aim to challenge their framework of policies. The government denied that there was ever a recession but later even they agreed that GDP rate was falling. Every industry is being affected due to the economic crisis, all our assets are stolen by our Indian corporates and foriegn companies. We cannot remain mum now," she further stated.

Concluding her speech, Kaur said, "We trade unions walk hand in hand as we want peace all around, not the way India is burning today. We do not want to go back to the days of East India Company."

Managing director of Karnataka Bank Mahabaleshwara M S, president of Karnataka Bank officers' organisation Jayaram Naik, general secretary Raghava and others were present.

    Mr. Charan,
These elements have been working hard for the past several years with these agendas and trying hard to mislead people but achieved nothing. Better to ignore and carry on with our life. Cheers.
