Goa university hikes examination fees by 5 per cent

Panaji, Dec 14: Based on demands from some quarters, Goa University (GU) decided to increase examination fees by 5 per cent for graduate and postgraduate courses.

Although, GU decided earlier this year to raise the fees by 30 per cent for other programmes.

Reportedly, an annual fee hike of 5% is the norm, but the university had decided in September decided to increase the fee by slightly more than usual to meet the recent rise in remuneration paid to examiners.

September’s hike was not uniform across programmes which caused objection. Following the backlash, GU decided on a uniform hike of 5 per cent across programmes. The academic council has stated that the revised circular will be issued by next week.
