Ponda, Dec 11: Aspirants from neighbouring states have come down to Goa to attend the 2 STC Goa Army Bharti (army recruitment). However, the hundreds of future jawans were found accommodating themselves on footpaths, temple campuses and other open spaces.
The recruitment will have begun from Dec 9 will continue to Dec 14 at 2 Signal Training Centre, located in Curti, Ponda.
Currently, the aspirants have set camp in Shree Hanuman Temple in Warkhande, Ponda. One of the devotees claimed that such a situation occurred almost every year, where along with camping around, the men would also defecate in the open.
Vice-chairman of the temple committee Ankush Naik has demanded that the government make proper arrangement of basic facilities like bathrooms and toilets, considering the PM has been stressing on an open-defecation free nation.
