2 youths arrested for stealing 156 kg of onions

Mumbai, Dec 11: Dongri Police on Tuesday arrested two youths accused of stealing onions. The duo wanted to make cash by stealing from vendors in Sewri, Wadala, Byculla and Dongri.
 
The accused have been identified as Shabbir Shaikh (33), and Imran Latif (30). As per police, the accused have been stealing onions for over four weeks. They were finally arrested when one of the wholesale dealers found his stock depleting.
 
"He saw the two fleeing with a gunny bag containing onions on a white scooter once. Shaikh complained to Dongri police that around 156 kg of onions worth Rs 21,000 were stolen from his shop,” said Prakash Dinkar, investigating officer.
 
 
The police had observed similar patterns in Byculla and Wadala markets. After studying CCTV footage, police identified the scooter's registration number and arrested the perpetrators from Pallagalli.
 
The police have charged them under IPC sections for theft and are interrogating them.
