M'luru, Dec 6: Sahodaya to organize Wheelchair Cricket match on Dec 8

Mangaluru, Dec 6: Sahodaya, an outreach programme for the empowerment of the Specially Abled was started in 2000 to conscientize the staff and the students toward the needs and aspirations of the differently-abled. The outreach programme has been constantly working with groups and institutions catering to the needs of such. It can be proudly stated that the Sahodayans have imbibed the spirit of growing together and lend their mite toward empowering people with disabilities even after completion of their studies.

This year the organization has embarked on an innovative and unique event called 'Kanasu - 2019 Disability Awareness Month'. They have planned to organize a Wheelchair Cricket match. Maharashtra and Karnataka Wheelchair cricket teams will face each other on December 8. This will be a 20-20 over match between the two states. A total of 40 players and support staff will take part in the tournament.

The grand inauguration will be held on Sunday December 8 at 9.30 am at Sahyadri campus. A Sadananda Shetty, chairman, Shree Devi Education Trust, Mangaluru will be the chief guest. N G Mohan, chief commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides will be the guest of honour. Fr Dr Praveen Martis S J, principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the president of the inaugural ceremony.

The post-match presentation will be held on Sunday December 8 at 3.30 pm at Sahyadri campus. U Rajesh Naik, member of the Legislative Assembly, Government of Karnataka will be the chief guest. Fr Dr Praveen Martis S J, principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the guest of honour. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ - Rector, St Aloysius Institutions will be president of the post-match presentation.
