Udupi: Student Islamic Organization Of India discuss ways to protect environment from pollutants

Udupi, Dec 5: Student Islamic Organization Of India in the district conducted a press meet concerning Environment Protection Abhiyan which will commence from December 7 to December 30. The press meet was held on Thursday December 5.

Danish Chendadi, secretary of Samvedana Art and Cultural Forum addressed the media. He said, "Dr Baliga Memorial Hospital and Samvedana Arts and Culture Karnataka are organizing an Environment Protection Awareness Abhiyan from December 7 to December 30. The main objective of this abhiyan is to make people aware that our earth has become polluted due to many reasons and that we are suffering because of this. The earth must be protected from pollutants and it is our responsibility to stop these pollutants from affecting the environment.

"Our main focus is to involve more students and youth in this awareness programme as they are the ones who will face more problems due to environmental issues if these problems persist. Awareness meetings, exhibitions, street plays, wall painting, bicycle march, debates and various competitions will be held so that people are aware of these problems and join together to eliminate them from society."

Dr P V Bhandary, director of A V Baliga Memorial Hospital stated, "The inauguration will be held on December 7 at Salu Mara Thimakka Tree Park, Manipal. On December 14, a walk march will be held at Gangolli and from December 17 to 19, awareness programmes and street plays will be conducted at Kaup, Karkala and Kundapur near the school and college premises so that more and more youngsters are made aware of the programme. District Commissioner of Udupi, G Jagadeesha, Superintendent of Police, Nisha James and zonal forest officer J, Clifford Lobo have extended their support." He also appreciated the works of the Student Islamic Organisation Of India for their social and community works.

Danish Chendadi, Dr P V Bhandary, Nasir Hoode, manager of the Abhiyan, Afghan Hoode, district president of Student Islamic Organisation Of India, Sharukh Teertahalli, secretary of the Student Islamic Organisation Of India, Udupi district were present at the press meet.
