Panaji: Cables will be laid underground in state soon

Daijiworld Media Network – Goa (EP)

Panaji, Nov 30: “Cables for power will be laid underground across the state. Invitations for tenders of the work will be sent soon,” said Nilesh Cabral, minister of power in the state.

Work for underground cabling worth between Rs 1.8 crore to 2 crore will be taken up as per an official.

“Though all the MLAs like to have underground cabling, the work will be undertaken on the basis of need and not demand,” said the official. Underground cabling is done in parts of Porvorim, Margao, Ribandar and Panaji. Underground cabling to the entire state is not taken up by the government considering the huge cost.

Demand for underground cabling in constituencies with frequent high power fluctuation was more.
