Kuwait, Nov 22: Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait (AAK), held their much awaited get-together with family and friends on November 15, at Ahmadi Garden, Kuwait, under the able leadership of Maria Coelho, president of AAK and her entire team. The event was celebrated as Children’s Day and was also meant to celebrate and re-live the child within each one of them.

The grace of God was clearly visible in the glorious weather, combined with the bright sunshine and clear blue skies. The AAK ladies in their bright and colorful attire, began the day by invoking God’s blessings with a prayer by the liturgical secretary Diana D’Souza, then followed by the AAK tradition, the College Anthem, which was sung with a lot of poise. President Maria Coelho then addressed and welcomed the gathering. During the course of the day, various games were conducted for all age groups, which called for the energetic and enthusiastic participation by all present.

A sumptuous breakfast in the morning kept everybody energized and in high spirits. An ice-breaker game, Chinese Whisper, was played to get everyone into the mood and set the ball rolling. Group and individual games for both boys and girls, like-passing the cap, passing the ball under the legs, dressing up the mannequin, kept the children and the teens fully charged up. The adults too had their share of fun and re-lived their childhood by playing games like the handkerchief game, breaking the pots blindfolded and the balloon game. A game of shot-put was also conducted which had both men and women competing to see who was the strongest.

A delicious lunch was then served to satisfy the hungry palettes which was followed by a game of housie. After which the grown-ups were seeing vying with each other to break their balloons and chasing to grab as many handkerchiefs as they could, all of which brought about a riot of laughter from the young as well as the old. The game of breaking the pot blindfolded, by the adults, was thoroughly enjoyed more by the cheering children who wanted to see their parents win. Lastly, a game of dodge ball where children played against the adults, brought an end to the sporty and spirited evening. The crowd seemed to enjoy the games immensely. The spirit of sportsmanship and the total participation of everyone was truly commendable. Exciting gifts and prizes were handed to the winners as and when the games were played. Additional spot prizes were also given out throughout the day.

The yummy food served throughout the day, was catered by Kharaman caterers. The excellent sound system sponsored by Anand D’Souza of Illuminations kept the crowd entertained and the ladies who won various prizes, went home with gift vouchers from Sarina’s Salon.

As the day was drawn to an end, the Vice president Tressy Coutinho, expressed her gratitude and thanked all the participants, families, friends, sponsors, caterer and the young volunteers with whose love and support the event turned out to be a successful one.
