Domestic air passenger traffic up 3% in Jan-Oct


New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS): Domestic air passenger traffic in India increased 3.11 per cent in 10 months of 2019 over the year-ago period, according to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), here on Tuesday.

"Passengers carried by domestic airlines in January-October 2019 were 1,182.06 lakh (11.82 crore) against 1,146.37 lakh (11.46 crore) during the corresponding period of previous year, thereby registering annual growth of 3.11 per cent," the DGCA said.

In October, domestic passenger growth was recorded 3.98 per cent higher at 1.23 crore, it added.

The passenger load factor (PLF) also showed an increasing trend in October compared with September, on the back of the onset of the tourist season, the DGCA statement said.
