Mangaluru, Nov 9: Haleangady gram panchayat president, Jalaja Panar, said that the state High Court has issued a stay against the operation of the order issued by Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat dissolving Haleangady gram panchayat.

Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat had passed a resolution to dissolve the said gram panchayat, noting that it had failed to discharge duties cast upon it and that the development activities in the panchayat had become sluggish. Accordingly, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat chief executive officer had issued order on November 5, dissolving the administration of Haleangady gram panchayat.

Jalaja has filed petition in the high court against the said order. Senior high court advocate, Chandrakant Ariga, argued the case on behalf of the gram panchayat administration in the High Court.
