Lucknow, Oct 21: The UP police have registered a case, in which a woman from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh has alleged that her husband gave her triple talaq for giving birth to a girl child.
As per the complaint, the woman gave birth to a girl child on October 11 and her husband got angry when she spoke to him over phone and informed that their fifth child being a girl.
In the 11-year-long marriage, the couple had four daughters before the recent birth of child. "When I told my husband about our fifth child being a girl, he gave me triples talaq," the woman said in her complaint.
"A woman has filed a complaint of being given triple talaq by her husband. A case has been registered under sections 147, 452, 323 and 502 of the IPC and 3/4 of the Muslim Woman Act, 2019. We are investigating the case,” said Yamuna Prasad, superintendent of police, as quoted by ANI.
