Abu Dhabi, Oct 20: A man, who was once a well-known businessman in UAE, who is paralysed now and also who had the financial burden of paying AED four lac to clear the debts, was rescued by Yusuf Ali M A, chairman of the renowned Lulu Group of Companies. Yusuf Ali paid the outstanding debt in the name of the man and helped him to get back to his native place in Kerala after 15 years, reports Gulf News. 

28 legal cases were slapped on Moosakutty Puzhakkara, a native of Pattambi in Kerala, which were civil cases for non-repayment of debt. He was in prison in Ras Al Khaimah of UAE. In addition, he was prohibited from travelling as well as had to pay the medical charges for his paralysis.

Moosakutty has to live in an old house for over 10 years in a hand to mouth existence situation. The family was fed by Good Samaritans living and working in UAE. The point of concern was that in addition to legal cases, Puzhakkara was stuck with many health complications, including paralysis. 

Now the family of Puzhakkara can heave a sigh of relief because of the philanthropy of Lulu chairman Yusuf Ali. A paralysed Puzhakkara and his wife left for Kerala on October 8. 

Yusuf Ali came to know about the misery of Moosakutty and decided to do something for him. He met Moosakutty and got the complete details about his situation and the financial distress he was in apart from the health condition. The legal proceedings and discussions with other partners in Moosakutty's businesses took over a month to resolve. This also included police and immigration department. 

Because of Yusuf Ali's intervention, an early settlement was reached and it was decided that Moosakutty had to pay an amount of AED four lac in order for him to get cleared from all the cases and go back to Kerala. Yusuf Ali paid the amount on behalf of Moosakutty. 

When asked about his noble gesture, Yusuf Ali said, "Moosakutty's health condition and misery in which his wife was living moved me and I decided to do something for him. But it was not easy as there were 28 legal cases against him. But the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi was very helpful when I approached him for assistance. Police and immigration departments also responded positively and took the settlement of cases on fast track. This paved the way for the paralysed Moosakutty to clear all the financial debt and go back to India." 

Yusuf Ali wished all the very best to Moosakutty in his future life and said that he will pray for his speedy recovery.
