Sullia, Oct 20: In a tragic accident that occurred on the Mani-Mysuru national highway near Halegatu Vidyanagar of the town, a woman who was crossing the road, was killed when a KSRTC bus ran over her on the evening of October 19. 

Meenakshi Teacher (65), wife of retired teacher Hariprasad, a resident of Halegatu Vidyanagar is the unfortunate woman who lost her life in the incident. She is survived by husband, son and two daughters. 

A case in this regard stands registered in the Sullia police station.

Hariprasad had gone to his ancestral house at Mandekolu Bolugallu for the Satyanarayana Pooja on Saturday with his wife Meenakshi. After the pooja was over both husband and wife had come to Sullia and hired a service autorickshaw that goes towards Paicharu. They got down at Halegatu to cross the road. Hariprasad crossed the road, while Meenakshi, who was following him from behind was mowed down by the KSRTC bus that arrived from Paicharu. 

Meenakshi had retired five years ago after serving as a teacher at Ayyanakatte School. Earlier she had worked at Koyikuli and Shantinagar also.
