PM Modi cleans TN beach ahead of talks with Xi

Mahabalipuram, Oct 12 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday collected plastic bottles, plates and other garbage thrown on the beach outside the Taj Fisherman's Cove Resort and Spa near here where he is staying.

Clad in a black kurta-pajama, Modi was seen with a large plastic bag in hand during his early morning walk as he picked out plastic litter, water bottles strewn on the sands.

Walking bare foot along the sea shore, he was seen picking up slippers from the sands normally given to guests staying at the five-star property.

In a series of tweets in keeping with his Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the Prime Minister also said: "Plogging at a beach in Mamallapuram this morning. It lasted for over 30 minutes. Also handed over my 'collection' to Jeyaraj, who is a part of the hotel staff.

"Let us ensure our public places are clean and tidy. Let us also ensure we remain fit and healthy."

The video of Modi picking up waste from the beach was uploaded on his Twitter handle.

Modi also tweeted that he had a refreshing walk and also exercised along the scenic coast.

On Friday, Modi held the second informal summit with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mahabalipuram. The two leaders are set to hold more meetings on Saturday, where trade and business will be the main focus.

Can he clean his mind first? Look at J&K and secularity of nation. It has gone to the dogs under him.

Trying to find trash on a private beach of 5-star hotel? Lets not forget the beach which Modi cleaned is the beach in front of the beach in front of the luxury seaside resort Taj Fisherman's Cove in Mallapuram. The beach is inmmaculately maintained by the Taj staff with the help of locals. Also, before the bilateral informal meet between Modi and Xi, an additional cleaning mission/operation and security combing of the whole area including the beach was done!

Now say cheers to Modi's "plogging"

The second sentence should read as "Lets not forget the beach which Modi cleaned is the beach in front of the luxury seaside resort Taj Fisherman's Cove in Mallapuram. "

Does Modi did this cleansing of beach in his own will or just to show off to media and to gain the sentiments of Tamil mass for election gimmick?
Don't be trapped. Use your intellect to judge.

The fake drama king at it again. Very environment conscious — Picking up empty plastic bottles and putting them in a plastic bag😂. His security standing behind and watching him enact the drama of picking up empty plastic bottles that they themselves placed on the beach. Why is this feku wasting tax-payer monies on such drama — imagine the cost of the filming crew and make-up artists!😂😂😂

Whatever you mock or call it a drama, but the visuals send a strong message to public about cleanliness.
I appreciate the act for that reason.

Shankar, Mangaluru — the visuals send anything but a strong message to public about cleanliness. In fact the message conveyed is one of pretense and falsehood to fool gullible public! He's making a mockery of citizens of this country, and more so when he uses a clean plastic bag to fill in empty plastic bottles placed on the beach by his own drama crew — does he not have any brain to use a environment friendly bag? What a waster!!!
