Kundapur, Sep 19: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths conducted raids on government guest house of Kundapur sub-divisional officer Dr S S Madhukeshwar on Thursday evening. He had been transferred two days ago.

Madhukeshwar was transferred from Kundapur sub-division on Tuesday after allegations of demanding bribe for every work. But he was not assigned any place. Madhukeshwar should have vacated the guest house for newly arrived Rajiv. But Madhukeshwar was instead clearing files in the guest house after receiving bribe.

ACB personnel conducted raid in the leadership of Udupi ACB DySP Manjunath Kavari. Accused Madhukeshwar was seen sorting out files in the guest house provided by the government. The officials, upon investigations, seized 23 files which were being disposed illegally. Besides, those who paid bribe have also been called in the office for investigations.

It was alleged by many people that Dr Madhukeshwar, who had arrived as Kundapur sub-divisional officer has been corrupt since the beginning. He was also allegedly taking bribe when he had come as Tahsildar to Kundapur in the past.

Recent reports said that Rs 1,28,000 cash was seized at the place of raid.

He should not be Suspended, he should be stripped off from his position.. after so many instances recently why are these people not scared?
If one goea to the office in state bank, there is a lady there who collected money for marriage registration, 1600 rs for per Registration and she did not agree to give receipts, she politely refused by smiling... It's should be made mandatory to do wire transfer in all government offices if there is a fee to be paid, I don't even understand why should someone pay for registration of marriage 🤔
There is one more takulu man in Lal bagh muncipal office he was caught while taking bribe of 5 lakh rs, but action taken was very light just suspense for 1 month.. why is he not stripped from the position?? It's not very first time he did this, we would write government exams but only people who give bribe would be appointed irrespective of exams, then why write exams???

Most people irrespective of party affiliations talk about 'exchange of suitcases' during the recent Operation Kamala. and mass resignation of Karnataka MLAs.
This is supposed to be mother of all corruption and bribing. Why all the concerned agencies are silent about it?

corruption and bribing are a way of life. It is in people's blood everywhere, not just in India. Not just officials but politicians and leaders of parties in and outside government.
Until the bribers stop bribing it will continue. So, focus should also be on bribers who tempt the officials to receive bribe and give them what they want on a priority over others. Reminds me of a judge who received bribes both from the plaintiff and the defendant; the one who offered the most was given a favourable judgement.

Each and every work in the government offices needs bribe in general. Lower officers are given target for a month. All this kind of arrest may be because of higher officers did not get their due. those who give bribe will not speak about it in general.

Recently I went to the Property Card office cash was flowing freely all over the office. Staff are openly accepting cash as though it's their right and I even saw one officer not happy with what he was offered and was asking for more. I feel each staff must carrying lot of cash every evening as per their status in the office. It's a sad state of affairs. I don't say it's only in this office but it's in all the government offices in Mangalore and I'm sure all over Karnataka.

I feel sorry for this guy as he is caught while receiving bribe whereas everybody else is enjoying with their ill gotten wealth. Corruption is so much rampant in our government offices that if they start raiding practically everybody will be in jail. While corruption is our culture and its in our blood, why punish one person selectively in isolated cases?
