16-year-old Niloufer becomes youngest qualified pilot from Kerala

Daijiworld Media Network - Kochi (SR)

Kochi, Sep 19: As an inspiration to many, 16-year-old Niloufer, a teen girl from Kakkanad, has proved that impossible is possible with determination and efforts as she became the youngest pilot after securing a Student Pilot's Licence (SPL).

Niloufer revealed her ambition, of becoming a pilot that she kept in mind since childhood, to her parents after clearing the class 10 exams. However, her parents did not take it seriously as they thought that she was influenced by the movie ‘Uyare’ in which the lead character Pallavi Raveendran becomes a pilot. Though, it did not take long for her parents to realise that it is not just influence but a stable decision. When most of her classmates joined higher secondary courses, Niloufer's father Muneer Abdul Majeed enrolled his daughter for Orient Flight Aviation Academy in Mysuru.

After joining the Mysuru academy, Nilofer underwent rigorous physical tests and a tough two-and-a-half-month course to clear the test for SPL. Her hard work during the last six months has paid off and Niloufer cleared the exam to become the youngest SPL holder from Mysuru academy.

The next step for Niloufer is to secure a Private Pilot License (PPL). For that, she has to attend a training that lasts five hours and learning sessions about controlling an aircraft in artificial conditions similar to a cockpit on the ground.

After securing PPL, that takes two-and-a-half years of training, Niloufer would be able to fly small private aircraft meant for leisure and tourism purposes.

Niloufer has also registered for an open education higher secondary programme for obtaining Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), which is given only to aspirants holding a Plus-Two certificate along with PPL. Now, she has set her final goal, a CPL which would allow her to fly the big commercial aircraft.

as per the Indian Law , even to obtain, RTA driving license we need to be 18years . t its like matured enough mind so, I don't think she can confidently fly the flights, she needs time to do that, for the sake passengers security in all the directions. wishing you good luck always and God bless.

    Congrats Niloufer,
A 16 year old becomes youngest qualified pilot, but she is not eligible to get Driver's License in India!
Time India changes its rules & lets 16 year old people to get LLR as present day kids are getting bigger & more mature early unlike in the olden days. It's better to let them learn early & follow the rules than break it.
We follow US & West, why not in this as well?
