Mangaluru: MLA Vedavyasa Kamath urges minister to declare Dasara holidays from Sep 30

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Sep 17: Navaratri celebrations will begin on September 30 in the city. In the background of this, city south MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath has appealed to the Primary and High School Education minister Suresh Kumar to declare the Dasara holidays on time.

MLA Kamath met the minister in Bengaluru and submitted his appeal. The appeal says, "Like the Mysuru Dasara, Mangaluru Dasara is also celebrated with grandeur. The religious festivities in this connection will start from September 28 itself. As there will be special poojas, homas and havanas in various temples, if the holidays are declared from that date, it will be convenient for students, parents and teachers to partake in those activities."

The appeal further says, "If the Dasara holidays are declared from October 6, it will cause inconvenience to the school and college students of Dakshina Kannada district. When compared to other parts of the state, Dasara celebrations are unique in the district of Dakshina Kannada. So the honourable minister has to look into this matter and take out an order declaring Dasara holidays to start from September 30 itself for all the private, aided and unaided educational institutions of the district."

Dooja, Kuwait. I think you haven't taken any burden of your children (If u married and have kids) education. Don't have the pain it seems how to make a kid to concentrate on study. Sitting gulf country writing " MLA is is trying some thing good.. but people here are jealous. God forgive them." is totally wrong. Will you please elaborate what good the school, kids, parents and teacher will get from it? DO you know how much logistic work is involved to pre or postpone the exams? Be more sense-able person. Don't encourage and play with education dept. may be you got kuwait haet stroke, tahing out your frustration.

What nonsense. Portion is pending because of rain holidays. How we teachers gonna finish the portion, prepare tests and above that evaluate the answers in such a short time. Mr Kamath, please take teachers opinion and take these steps. I'm sure none of the teachers would be happy with this.

Mr. Kamath, are holidays for festivities more important than education. Students can celebrate Dasara next year too, but their educational obligations for this year cannot be fulfilled next year.

If education is important why convents declare holidays during Christmas for more than 10 days. Open your mouth equally for all.

I hope you know that the reason for cutting down on holidays is due to the havoc created by incessant rains.
Just like Dasara holidays, convent schools declare holidays during Christmas as has been customary for years. But if need be (as has happened last year and this year due to rains), even convent schools should cut down Christmas holidays.

And if they don't do so I will raise my voice. I am not a person who supports dividing society on religion because my country did not teach me that, my parents did not teach me that, my religion did not teach me that, my school and its teachers did not teach me that and my friends' circle did not teach me that. For me every person is the same - rich or poor, belongs to religion A or religion B. If possible, please send me the addresses of all schools run by Christians in the city. I will write letters to them personally urging them to reduce Christmas holidays.

Dear Mr.Kamath, you are thinking about holidays?? Students are preparing for their exams. Please don't distract them. Time tables have already issued. You simply can't change the dates. If you wanted holidays early, you could have given your letter a month ago. Now if schools are given holidays early, there will be problems for students, parents and teachers. Please see the issue from other side also.

This holiday schedule is not important! If you can...please drive yourself from Surthkal toll gate to Kuloor and if you feel necessary talk your own party MP to improve most paid, expensive and most used off road stretch!! I wonder why politicians are not bothered about this non existing road!

Anything to appease his voters. What next? 7 days holidays for Diwali? Simbly creating problems for the education department and families and faculty who have already planned weddings and holidays and other events.

It's about time these good-for-nothing educated illiterate politicians stop meddling with education and educational institutions. If he wants holidays for himself he can take a permanent life-long holiday — no one will stop you from that Mr Vedavass!

Dear Mr.D Vedavyasa Kamath. Appreciate your concern for requesting for dasara to commence from 30th Sept. With due respect, inform you that majority of the schools have already prepared schedule for mid term exams and time table issued. In such circumstances if the holiday commence from 30th it self, exams have to be postponed. It really pain not only to the student but also to the parents, Students can't enjoy the holidays in full swing.
