Panaji, Sep 15: On Saturday, health minister of Goa, Vishwajit Rane claimed that a 100-seat private medical college would be set-up on a public-private partnership basis in the newly built South Goa district Hospital.

Also, Rane alleged discussion with the Centre over the construction of AIIMS in Goa. Further, he claimed that a well-equipped hospital in the South Goa will help the residents, as they would not be required to travel to GMC for treatment anymore.

Rane announced that government has shortlisted PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young as consultants. In one of his statements, Rane claimed that the hospital in South Goa will have an increase in the number of beds from 550 to 700. "It has got the infrastructure and once the consultant comes on board, we will shortlist the party who will build the hospital."

Among the shortlisted consultants, the committee headed by the health secretary will choose one.
