Mangaluru: Grand ‘Musical Day’ celebrated at St Aloysius PU College

Mangaluru, Sep 14: An exuberant musical saga, ‘Musical Day 2019’ was celebrated at pretorium of St Aloysius PU College on Saturday, September 14.

Ashish Palanna, known guitarist and vocalist, graced the event as chief guest. Fr Dionysius Vas, rector, St Aloysius Educational Institutions, presided over formal inaugural ceremony. Fr Clifford Sequeira, principal, Fr Vinod Paul, finance officer, Charlotte D’Souza and Murali Krishna G M, vice principals, Rashmi M R, programme convenor, Rabiyath Aslam, president, student council, Azhaan Ibrahim, secretary, and Mona Fernandes, joint secretary were present on dais.

In his inaugural speech, Ashish Palanna said, “This place made me a noted musician. I got lot of support from teachers at this place. So I always think St Aloysius College is a blissful spot for all talents. Music makes us happy and gives pleasure. Listening to music is very easy but creating it is very difficult. Through hard work, we can achieve great things in music field. These musical days and festivals, will help motivate the young musicians to achieve something. I wish the best to performers of this Musical Day here. "

In his presidential address, Fr Dionysius said, “St Aloysius Educational Institutions gives much importance for music. Music expresses feelings and it understands hearts. It makes us feel that we are all united. Music does not have any language or religion. It is universal and divine. Musical Day will help students to exhibit their talents. It will help motivate leadership and give lasting entertainment. I congratulate the organising committee and wish them all success.”

Addressing the gathering, Fr Clifford said, “Learning anything outside classrooms comes under extracurricular activities. Our college supports extracurricular activities along with academics. Education from outside classrooms helps to develop aspects of life. Nowadays it is very important. Musical Day may help students explore their talents. Apart from this, music unites us all and touches our hearts. So I wish success for all the students who are participating in various programmes during the day.”

Rabiyath Aslam, welcomed the dignitaries and gathering. Azhaan Ibrahim introduced the chief guest. Mona Fernandes rendered the vote of thanks.
